A learning management system is software that was created to control, track, and manage different elements of classroom training, online training, and e-learning types of programs. LMS software is used in private and in corporate settings, and a learning management system is often web-based, in order to enable users to obtain access to content and administration. Many computer-based learning programs utilize LMS software, such as online courses and training in different areas of career specialties that offer internet schooling. The learning management system of any of these types of schools is responsible for many aspects of it, including tracking of a student’s grades, attendance of online courses, tracking participation in question and answer sessions, and a variety of other online class activities. LMS software is also used by some companies or employers who wish to enact employee appraisals, competency-management and performance evaluations. Employers or prospective employers also sometimes elect to use learning management system software to reward employee functionality and improved performance and to recruit new potential employees. LMS software is also used for continued education, both of professors and students, in many online programs. LMS software allows for online discussion threads for both of these groups of individuals.
