There are many different types of portable solar chargers. One of the latest ones on the market is the Solar roll. This solar mat can roll up for ease of use and portability. When you have reached your campsite you simply unroll the mat and let the sun do its job. Depending on the strength of the sun it can fully charge a laptop in 5 to 6 hours. The Solar Roll is waterproof which means you can use it on damp ground or on a table where there is a chance drinks or water will be spilled. You can even use it in the rain, although the lack of sun will probably be a problem.
Another new type of portable solar battery charger is the The Voltaic Generator. This is a bag that is the size of a briefcase. It holds two solar panels with room left to put a 17-inch laptop inside. This charger can trickle charge a laptop while you use it and prevent the battery from draining. This can be extremely useful if you are out in the woods or just somewhere that power is not available. Using a solar battery charger is a great way to keep working on your laptop even where there is not outlet in sight.
